Last night I saw the last episode of Angel. That concluded my 28 month expedition to watch all 7 seasons of Buffy and all 5 seasons of Angel. And now there's no more Joss Whedon out there (well, except for a few more episodes of Dollhouse that are trickling out, which anyway aren't as good as the earlier stuff). Very sad.

I'm still working my way through season 4 of Buffy (almost done with it), but I've never seen a single episode of Angel. Is it worth watching? I feel like I've missed some continuity in a couple of the season 4 episodes of Buffy, but not that much.

You certainly aren't losing anything in Buffy by not watching Angel, but yeah, I like Angel quite a bit. As I said to thegreatgonz, I think the later seasons of Angel are better than the later seasons of Buffy.

I've heard good things about Bryan Fuller; I take it he's pretty much the best thing about Heroes (which I saw the first season of and then gave up on). I should start with Pushing Daisies, right?

Yes. Pushing Daisies is half brilliant show, half great writing, and half feast for the eyes. It's sesquiawesome. It only survived for two short seasons, so it won't take you long. Wonderfalls is brilliant and extremely underrated, too. I've never watched Heroes, but according to IMDB he only wrote four of the episodes, unlike the other series for which he was a writer of every episode.

Hah -- I was actually going to suggest Wonderfalls to you on the basis of your list and our apparent overlap in TV show appreciation. Wonderfalls is genius. Listening to the plans they had for future seasons is painful -- it seems clear to me at least that it could have been quite like Buffy. Apparently the third season was to be set mostly in a mental asylum.

I totally agree. The first season left me wanting more. The descriptions of the possible plot lines for seasons two and three made me glad I didn't get it.

Ah, so that's "painful" as in "would have hurt if they were made" as opposed to "hurt to hear that they didn't get made".

Actually, I meant it as the latter. The future plot lines were kind of weird and they did leave me scratching my head, but the strength of (parts of) the first season made me want to see what it would have come out as, anyway.
