Oh lordy, an actual update by an actual person, not the Jamie-robot hawking her wares.
So, stupid me spent over a week rearranging my craft room, and now I'm running behind on custom orders placed around the first. Figures. On the bright side, about 70% of it is actually organized and somewhat clean, so I can take pictures soon. Yay.
In other news, we're slowly fixing our house. We've managed to do more than the previous owner did in 7 years - in less than 10 weeks. Plumbing, yard work, etc. IT'S NOT HARD. The back yard finally looks nice. There's a huge pile of weeds, brush, garbage, TREES (WTF Xmas tree?), and wood that's just begging for a bonfire in the next couple of weeks. The front yard is generally leaf- and poop-free. We fixed an outdoor leak and a pressurized pipe (well, technically Juan's grandpa did it, but we were going to do it anyway, he just took over), and the leak in the bathtub indoors somehow miraculously fixed itself as soon as we moved in.
Next, I think we're going to work on taking down the big ugly lattice and the haphazard planter out front. Seriously, haphazard doesn't even begin to describe it. She stacked some bricks, no mortar, then slathered stucco all over them. When it didn't hold, she slathered on more and more stucco, until it looks like a deformed little stucco mountain with dirt in it. It's STILL falling down. And with a slegehammer and some very happy demolitionists, it will be a pile of bricks on the ground. We'll probably hang on to the bricks, we already have another pile in the backyard that need to be used for something.
Also, we have to start thinking about planting. I want to put 2 or 3 Afghan pine trees in the backyard, since we're losing 2 trees. One is dead, and the other is just about dead. One we'll just cut down because it's a pain in the ass, but the other one might be made into a giant bear Atlas statue. Who doesn't need a giant wooden bear holding up the world?
