We took the girls skiing this morning. Ok, let me rephrase that, we took them to the ski resort and watched them ski. Does anyone know how hard that was for me and the hubby to do? WE give them our little pointers about getting on the chair lifts again, and off they go. So we are standing at the bottom of the hill and I say to the hubby, "this is not right!" He agreed, but for obvious reasons, I'm not skiing this season because of my current prego conditon and the hubby couldn't ski today because technically his nose is still broken. It was just so weird not to be skiing with them. MY BABIES ARE GROWING UP!
And they ski so goood! But they have learned from the master, me!!!
So the BIL & SIL showed up too! The girls loved skiing with their boy cousins. I have to give my BIL credit, he got the boys and himself all hooked up with snowboards, boots, helmets, goggles and taught them how to snowboard along with himself this season. I'm pretty impressed. My nephew who turned 14 yesterday is a frigging natural, just like my girls and so is his youngest brother. The middle one has a bit more to learn and control. But all of them did outstanding today. WE actually went into the ski lodge and let the girls ski by themselves, and this was before the rest of the family showed up. IT WAS SO HARD TO DO THAT, but it is good for them to learn too! A good day to be had by all!
The surprise party was pretty lame last night. We really didn't know anyone there and it was like the basement was full of dudes and the upstairs was full of chicks. It was actually pretty hard to make conversation with anyone. Maybe they didn't want us to infringe upon their little neighborhood cliche. Oh well, we would welcome any and all with open arms in my neck of the woods. The birthday girl was having fun and really that was all that mattered. She is one the most nicest people on this earth. So happy birthday again Jen!
It was a pretty good weekend and the kids can't wait to go skiing again. Maybe this weekend we will head up north. We'll see.
rock on...
