Colorado was a blast! My flight out of Detroit was on time, even after all the snow we had the night before, but when I arrived at O'Hare, I was delayed 3 hours in the airport and 1 hour on the plane before we took off for CO Springs. Once I got there, my cousin and his wife picked me up outside of the airport since I didn't have any luggage to pick up. I had carry ons. He was saying to his wife in the truck, "that doesn't look like your sister? it looks like my cousin Jenny?" SURPRISE! He was very happy to see me! I did have to tell him that I was pregnant and there would be no hillbilly style partying for me on this trip. He was fine with that. And yes they let me be the DD for the whole weekend, which was fine with me.
We went to a party on Friday night. I had to change in the back of the truck on the way there. No problem. This party was fun, good food, good drinks, crappy music. The dj just could not roll into the next song. Oh well, we survived.
Saturday I got to experience my second cousin race in motorcross. He is #1. He took first in the race that I was at, both races. He is such a nice kid. 15 years old, 137lbs of pure muscle and can handle a Honda 250 no problem. This bike has a bit of tork to it. He also rides a Honda 450. I was pretty darn impressed. I knew that he rode and was good, but I didn't know that he was THAT GOOD! The kid rocks! He gave me his first place plaque along with a picture of him flying high in the air. Of course I made him sign it and told him that if he ever went pro or on the national tour that I would put the signed pic on ebay and make some cash! Not, I put it in my office where I can see the #1 / First place everyday!
Saturday night was the big surprise party for my cousin. We went up into Denver for this. We checked into our hotel, and then headed out to the restaurant. We walked in and there were 60 people there yelling surprise. He sure was. My cousin and his wife are well loved and liked by many. This made me very happy, and knowing that they have a large surrogate family in CO is a blessing!
After dinner we went back to someones house for good ole house party. My favorite kind. Everyone was nice and funny and all were getting pretty drunk except me and another dude who was DD. I had my O'doole's and was just fine with that. This party was with all of the people from the track. They come from all over Colorado to ride. It's an expensive sport to have kids in and these people work hard to let their kids and themselves enjoy this. I hope that everyone of the kids appreciates this in the long run!
Ok, gotta run, the snow is falling and I must leave early to head out to the doctors for blood work before my first doctor appt. on Monday. I hope that the snow/ice isn't too bad, otherwise I will postpone until tomorrow or next week!
rock on...
Ps. AEROSMITH & LENNY KRAVITZ are playing tonight. I have my sitter all lined up, now if the weather just cooperates! :)
