while writing my final english essay (how spelling and grammer chesk in word processors make us stupid) i started thinking about how much time i spend on the computer and watching the idiot box. i decided that i not only watch too much TV, and spend too much time on the computer, but i really do not read at all anymore. this made me sad. it being summer and all i decided to make a difference in this. today, me and my wonderful fiance were at waldenbooks and there was a buy 4 get 1 free sale. which kicks ass!!! so i got some books and am ready for summer to read em all. heres my book list. and i am going to read ALLLLL of them. i will keep you updated with completion results and reviews of each book. heres the books i have chose to expand my mind with...

"The Art of Peace", by Morihei Ueshiba ------------a good philosphical look at the martial arts, Aikido mainly.

"Tao Te Ching", by Lao Tsu --------------- the basis of the Taoist religion. i dig it, i like just existing more than going to church.

"The Tao of Pooh", by Benjamin Hoff -------------- a good look at the philosophical, esoteric, and religious undertones of the cute little bear from 100 acre woods.

"With the Old Breed", by E.B.Sledge -------------- a detailed account of the war in the pacific from a soldiers view. first person very VERY graphic accounts of Okinawa and Peleliu. read some for history... best book to describe the horrors of war.

"Conceptual Blockbusting", by James L. Adams ---------------- a really REALLY good book about different methods of thought. abandoning the routine methods we have and basically just trying to think outside the box. an amazing book.

"Amusing Ourselves to Death", by Neil Postman ------------- quoted "Public discourse in the age of show business" an amazing book about how Television and electronic media are making us dumb.

and for my own amusement. "Under the Black Flag", by David Cordingly ------------- the true history about pirates. it looks fuckin bad ass.

well... i will keep you updated on what i read. i will have them all done by the time i start classes. i promise!!
