戦闘機 - Fighter aircraft

Well I picked up the limited edition Ace Combat 05 game with the flightstick2 controllers. All I can say is, this game ROCKS! Ace Combat 04 was a great game to play and so far I think 05 is a great successor to it. I started playing it with the Japanese voices and English text enabled, but I quickly found that to be a grave mistake. During missions, AWACS and ground or sea forces all flood the radio with various messages along with your 3 wingmen, which makes it hard to listen to the Japanese AND try and to read the messages on the top of the screen on top of dogfighting with enemy aircraft. After a couple missions of mostly info overload, I quickly switched the voices to English until I play the game through a couple times so that I know what to do for each mission. Although, even in English it's still hard to keep with the radio chatter. Speaking of wingmen, one of the interesting new feature in the AC05 game is the ability to give your wingmen commands during battle via the communication buttons.

The Flightstick2 that came with the game took a bit of getting used to since there's 2 sticks (1 for maneuvering and 1 for throttle) with a load of switches and buttons that control the aircraft, communications, and weapons systems. It's pretty similar to the setup in a real fighter aircraft. After going through a few missions with the flightstick, I don't think i'll ever play a flight sim with the controller again. If anyone out there is into combat flight sims, this is definately a game to check out. Now...to get to my goal of buying a MiG-29/SU-37 and using that in the game.
