WICKED WAS AMAZING. If I was a sparkly text type of person, I'd put that in sparkly text, but I'm not, so I'll just have to settle for my limited HTML to declare my awe of the musical. I got teary-eyed probably half of the play; it wasn't just when the story was touching, but whenever either of the leads sang a really good solo, or when they did their soaring duets, I started crying again, LOL. It's really easy to make me cry when the story is fictional - I was practically bawling by the end of "For Good" xD;;
The inside of the theatre during intermission, as captured on my cell phone :D I expected the dragon to do more wiggling and moving around, but I guess there's a limit to the budget, haha. I was also kind of surprised by how small the cast was - they sounded like there were twice the amount of members.
We actually missed probably the first couple of minutes of the show - dad had to drive all the way to school to pick Julie up because her ride was also the person who had everyone's tickets, which she had left at home and had to go back to pick them up. Then it turns out everyone else, including the ticket-holder, got to the theatre before we did, so they called us to say our tickets were at will-call. We rushed in during the middle of "No One Mourns the Wicked", so I guess we didn't catch the overture and maybe 5 minutes of singing? But at least we made it! And we didn't miss Elphaba's entrance :)
So of course I had to succumb to marketing and get a "Defying Gravity" T-shirt and Elphaba hat keychain. (Julie got the same keychain and the green V-necked "Defying Gravity" shirt, haha.)
And once I got home, I had this waiting for me in the kitchen:
The Arashi Dream A-Live Concert goods that
aatash bought on my behalf, along with a pretty postcard! ♥ Hope you're slowly settling in, dear :)
I unrolled the poster and squee'd at the prettiness, but then decided to roll it back up and save it for the new school year :D Also flipped through the pamphlet, which is also gorgeous and humongous. ♥ I think I'll keep the cell phone straps in their boxes for now, as my phone doesn't actually have a place to hang charms. The only disappointing thing that happened today (or technically, will happen tomorrow) is that mum has to drive to a place 2 hours away for work tomorrow, and I'm going with her because I firmly believe she'll get lost if I just toss printed out directions at her. I had originally planned on lunching with a friend, but we'll have to see if I can keep my appointment. Mum's going to pick someone up, bring them back here for business purposes, then send them back and then drive back herself. So that's at least 8 hours of driving, if not more depending on traffic. =_= Mum seriously does NOT get paid enough to do this. And I'm certainly not getting anything out of this other than nagging from dad and making sure mum doesn't get lost in the middle of nowhere.
...I'm going to bring my entire Arashi discography with me. Or at least the iPod FM tuner thingy.
