Have I Been Bad?
I recently was "elected" (in an unopposed race) as an officer of the local section of the American Chemical Society. What did I win? An all-expense paid trip to Baltimore this weekend for a meeting of ACS leaders. Which sounds like fun, I suppose, in an 'I don't get to the east coast much, and it'll be interesting to hear what I'm supposed to be doing in this position' sort of way.
That's until I was reading the local Sunday paper and learned that Christopher Moore was going to be at a nifty local independent bookstore doing a reading... this Saturday! ARGH! Christopher Moore is coming to Spokane, Washington, and I won't be able to go. I'm being punished for something, I just know it.
