I've had this hunch for a long time, but I really think my littlest brother Seth, may be autistic. I've told my mom this hunch a bit ago, and she got really defensive and angry, stating that I was just an overbearing older sister, or somehow I was the cause of why he acts the way he does, so I dropped it.
HOWEVER... Today (and everytime I'm around him) he's been really... off. I know he's sick, but he's doing the same things he always does, and they just seem off. I've been through many a small child, as I have 4 younger siblings and have routinely babysat a plethora of children. I know this makes me no expert, hell no, but... Seth is just really different from the rest of them.
He won't make direct eye contact for verty long, you have to grasp his face and stare right at him, and he'll still look right past you or away. He's always having tantrums, which is normal for little ones, but he has them all the time over every little thing. Sometimes, he'll be sitting there, then just start to scream and gripe and whine. He won't speak, really. He points at things he wants, or the general area... But most of the time, he won't want anything there. He seriously refuses to use words when asking about things and stuff. He can talk, at least a little bit, I've heard him talk and use intelligible sentences. He just won't.
He hates change, he won't even let us change his diaper most of the time, he'll really fight us. And he hates it when we change his clothes. he plays with toys, but more often he'll play with weird things... Like garbage, or a brush. He'll act like he can't hear you sometimes, even though we KNOW his hearing is fine.
I know he's a preemie, which might be why he's a little behind... Thats not why I'm worried. He's not all that behind... He's just off. I want my mom to realize that there might be something there with this. Of course, I could just be being paranoid, but a lot of his characteristics are characteristics of autism...
