Watching The Food Network has gotten me back on my fresh herbs for cooking bandwagon thingy, so a few days ago I picked up seeds for chives, dill, oregano, coriander, parsley, basil, and thyme! YAY! I finally got around to planting them this morning - during which my mom says to me, "You know top soil is more for lawns right? It might be too rich for what you're planting." - Thanks mom. Hopefully they'll be fine and grow without any problems. I'm super excited to have my own fresh herbs again, and hopefully they won't die from root-crowding when I transfer them to a full sized planter when they've grown. I've got a feeling I'm gonna be checking on them multiply times a day to see if they've started germinating...I know, as if they'd grow THAT much in one day. Stop being such a child.
ALSO this morning...during my walk, I passed through the little boardwalk/park that runs behind Snider/Raymerville. I've seen pairs of Mallard Ducks but no ducklings so far, but today (no, no ducklings still) I saw a family of Canadian Geese hanging out with all the Mallards. Mum, Dad, and seven(?) goslings! Unfortunately, I missed the goslings in their tiny fluffy form, but they're in their teenage stage now - tall and awkward. They weren't shy at all, coming about a foot from me and just staring at me (probably hoping for food). I got some pictures of them on my phone, hopefully I'll get a chance to add them to this post later on. Unfortunately, I also found an abandoned egg. *sad face*
