So the other day I ate at Pollo in the GC with my co-worker and we saw this guy selling used cds and bootlegs from live shows....there was a live show of The Cure that was playing on his cd player and I couldn't help myself...I had to approach the cd stand. I ask the guy the anticipated question and he tells me it's a show in chicago from last decade. I see the price on the cd and whoaa! It's $22!!! I wonder if this cd is a good bootleg or just something i can download. I make the purchase and feel screwed as I walk out of GC..when I see Apa! What a surprise! I show him the cd and he knew it was a scam right away. I knew it too...but I have a weak point for live shows..especially from The Cure! After small talk with Apa....I turned around and walked by to the guy and returned my purchase...I simply told him..."It's not going to work out." I felt so good about it afterwards...that I treated myself to some icecream from Edys. It's kinda sad how my purchasing habits have not changed...it's very rare that I find myself buying something that I feel completely sure that it was a good purchase. And since I've already touched on something negative...let me tell you about a positive. I wanted to write a bit about my recent trip to Chicago, which was by far the best money I have spent in a long time that I have no regrets for whatsoever! That's right...Lollapalooza! I had the best time! And you know....I've got to thank my friend John for making sure we got to our hotel safe! John, if you don't know already, your da bomb! It's so refreshing to go on a trip and not think about work, family, rent, responsibilities...etc. You get the point. All I cared about for 2 days was what bands was I going to see or what time will the shuttle leave for the airport so we can catch our train to the city. I was in the moment. At least I was for the most part.
So yeah, it seems that I enjoy more the stuff I buy that I can't hold on to physically...those things that I can store in the memory drive of my cpu of a brain.
Although, lately I've been missing my Smashing Pumpkin's live cd that I got months ago and has mysteriously vanished off the face of the earth! I think I might have loaned it to someone, but it's probably to late to ask for it back.
Work is good. It's been busy lately...students want to be advised early before registering for Fall. But, I'm enjoying my job alot. We have all kinds of characters working in our department and there's definitely alot of eye candy to go around. Tomorrow is Friday, and it's a tradition to meet up for happy hour after work. I love weekends! ;)
