A lot of stuff happened this weekend. Let's see: I watched an Indian film after almost a year- I've been watching mostly Spanish and Mexican films lately- then on Sunday, I visited my senile great-aunt, and I received six electric shocks over the next two days.
My main motive for watching the Bollywood- that's what they call the film industry here- movie was that I'd get to meet my amazing cousins, who had borrowed my HP7, which I badly needed back. Watching a bad movie seemed to be a small price to pay for my Harry Potter back...:-) The movie in question was "Chak de India", about the Indian Women's Hockey winning the World Championship. It's main themes were sportsmanship and patriotism, two emotions I don't understand one bit, but I did like it's feminist message, "Girls can do whatever they want, men are not needed!".
But yes, the movie wasn't all that pleasant, because at one point the Indian team beat Argentina, and I was, like, "NO WAY, NO FRICKING WAY, ARGENTINA ARGENTINA GO GO!!!!" And people threw me dirty looks...well, I should have been Latina by rights... then, this Argentinean woman goes down, screaming, "PUTA!", And I thought, my Latina friends did a good job of teaching me...;-)
The movie was also quite racist at parts, when this guy goes, "This is the first time in my life I'm seeing a white man putting up an Indian flag." Is that low self-esteem speaking, or what?
And they plagiarized from all sorts of places!
Moving on to Sunday, I went to an Old-Age Home to visit my Grandma's older sister. She's nice, but somewhat deaf, and very senile. She's kind to us, but she has no idea what to buy! And some of the characters in the place are worse than her! Once this woman came in, who was so deaf that you had to shout in her ear to make your point. It took her around five minutes to figure out that my Dad is her nephew, my Mom is my Dad's wife and I'm their daughter. Then, she was like, "Only one daughter, and no sons? What bad luck!" At the end, my Aunt had to tell her on her face to go away! But guess what? I don't hate that deaf, sexist old lady. First of all, those aren't really her views, are they? They're the views of the people who drilled them into her since she was a kind, which makes it a good 90 years' worth of brainwashing. Second, she's old, and poor, and deaf, and most probably abandoned...how can I not feel sorry for her?
On Monday, I got my Biology answer script back, with a 50 out of 70, and "Good Attempt" written on top. That's great marks, given that it would have been a better attempt if I had pooped on the paper and handed that in. I got 70/100 in Math- I only attempted 80 marks, so that's good- and 56/70 in Environmental Education, which is a joke of a subject. My worst are my English Language and Literature marks, even though they are pretty close to the highest. I wrote the answer right, and the woman still did not give me 1.5 on 2, forget 2! My Biology practical marks were 24/30, which is not bad at all.
Well, so much rambling for now.
