NaNoEdMo

well here it is, day 4 of March... the unofficial month for editing your NaNoWriMo novel... they have some "do 50 hours of editing" goal, but whatever. I fidget and get distracted so much that timing how long I work is impossible.

I know I told some people I would finish the novel before editing it, but I wasn't working on it. so hopefully this will get my ass in gear.

So what have I done so far... well I've revamped my prolog... twice... and did a light edit on chapter 1. That was a lot more work than it sounds like. Next up, I'm considering turning chapter 1 into two-three chapters. expanding the content slightly, but mostly splitting it up over a more natural dividing line.

My motto this month is "More description, Less stage direction." My current big problem with my writing is that I describe things from a very technical point of view. example.

Peering thru her eyes, open just enough to give her a view of her doorway, Michelle watched as the blue blur of the police officer looked into her room for a minute or so, then turned and moved towards the source of the yelling.

This was the first example I found. It's not the worst instance, but really it just seems like a little kid explaining by the cookie jar is broken. I'll need to make it flow better and kill the run-on sentence as well.

So anyway, this is what I want to deal with this month. hopefully things will speed up, I don't want to take 3 days per chapter. that's two months right there... and I'm not actually done at chapter 20, that's just where I'm currently stopped.
