So... I haven't written in almost a month... I think before that I had it consistently at 2 weeks, but three is kind of pushing it.
I'm sitting here in my messy bed, covered with my backpack, pink and brown sack purse with an empty bottle in it, my clean white aéropostle jacket, an old water bottle, my stuffed dog, my cell phone, my keys, and one candy wrapper, trying to come up with something to talk about, drinking mike's lemonade, and listening to Lana talk to someone in Arabic.
Potential subject matter for this blog-
-application processes- colleges, Raphael House, study abroad programs
-life over the past month- trips, visits, people, changes, places, ideas
-classes- french, spanish, literature, math
-finances- plane tickets, gas prices, caf food, the economy, jobs
-Dove chocolate "Promises"- "seek out small indulgences for yourself," and "engage, embrace, enjoy."
-transferring- prices, locations, benefits, problems, family
-weather- spastic Birmingham temperatures, indian summers, cold spells
-songs- Because, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, All Love Can Be, Near You Always, Wake Up, Kindle My Heart, Slow Down, Hey Jude
Aaaaaaand I'm sure there are many, many other things I could write about, but frankly, I don't think I want to.
I realized (or have been in the process of realizing) that I have a less than effective memory. I don't remember things well.
I remember that Columbus came to America 1492, that America's Independence Day was July 4, 1776, that the American Civil War was 1853-1865, that the first World War was from 1914 to 1918, and America joined in 1917. That WWII was after that... but I forget the date. Maybe the 1930's? It's sad, because I just talked about it last night! I should remember! But I don't. Oh yeah, and Pearl Harbor was December 7. But I don't remember the year on that one, either. And maybe that's a bad example of having a bad memory, but you can't blame me for that, since I don't remember a better one. >.< sad.
Is it bad to transfer schools? Is it good? I guess nobody can make a broad generalization like that. It isn't right. I guess the real question is- if I were to do this whole college thing again, would I have chosen to go somewhere I could be guaranteed four years...? No, that's ridiculous... I can't say whether or not I would have gotten the same (or similar, or as good) experiences where I went... what about the people I've met, the places I've gone, the things I've learned, the things I've been a part of? I can't say one way or another, which is annoying. I know that if I'd gone to UK or to somewhere cheap the first few years, it would have been so much harder at first, not having such amazing friends already there. But, at the same time, would it have been a better experience for me, an experience that stretched me more, that made me a better person somehow?
I can see how some things might have changed faster- my drifting away from people at home; my attachment to new people; my desire to have connections in many, many places, so as to have people there (wherever there would have been), to have friends.
okay, I'm kind of pulling stuff out of nowhere now.
And my head's getting fuzzy...
