stereo-static spoken word
lulling me to sleep
like an ocean-liner taking on water
sinking
way down
in this drug-induced coma
unrest, and no sleep
traveling on interstates
city lights and switchboards
an electric hum
a death in the family
a death among friends
bludgeoned to death in your bed
never let loose to go home again
then, crawling from the frontal lobe
to the eastern hemisphere of my brain
manifest destiny
sinking
way down
the lucidity of this nightmare
carries me across the globe
no, not again
