what a change a "wrong" turn can bring...after detroit, i knew to keep moving west i'd at least pass through chicago so i figured, why not? and i stopped back into wisconsin for a couple minutes. i managed to work for a few days and make some extra cash, and best of all my summer plans have changed just a bit.
i'll still be on the road, though this time the travel will be a bit more conventional and not so lonesome.
on thursday night me and two other fellas will depart from wisconsin in a '68 VW Bus to head west to Denver, then up to Vancouver (where i wanted to make it anyways), down the Pacific Coast Highway through Washington, Oregon, and California, before finally venturing even further south into Mexico for a little while.
my travel mates will be returning to Colorado some time at the end of August, leaving me ample time to make it back to Wisconsin (again!) for my brother's wedding at the end of September.
Go West, young man...from sea to shining sea; my own personal manifest destiny or something ridiculous like that. Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon; a summer of sucking down maple syrup and chasing it with a shot of tequila. redwoods and rain traps, Big Sur and Baja beaches, arid deserts and the vast and mighty Pacific...
