I got the following as a response to a previous post and decided to just go ahead and make another journal entry on it...

hmm I agree.
I can say that there is a way around the diamond thing. There are some pretty good "lab created" diamonds that are molecularly speaking, diamonds, though they will have 0 florescence which a small amount can be neat ( Read more... )

actually, you don't know me at all. And I LOVE the word coolella, its just way neat-o. Did you know that there are Canadian diamonds??? So there are diamonds (supposedly) that do not come out of africa.

I personally hate canary diamonds, I think its down right dumb to pay THAT much for something that is impure. I honestly don't like colored diamonds.

I do however really want a diamond someday. Because EVERYBODY knows what it means. And diamonds are pretty and sparkle, and I love the symbol of it. And when I get engaged (if ever) I want the world to know. That I, thats right me, am taken and getting hitched :)

But in the end, its his choice, and whatever (if) he gets me for an engagement ring, I will inevitably love, because HE picked it out and got it for me. Though I think he would be very surprised at what I would pick out for me if given the chance. I am not as expensive as he thinks.

The only reason my husband got me a diamond engagement ring was because he was able to get a Canadian diamond. I'd like to say that it wouldn't have mattered to me either way if it was a diamond or not, but I can't. I still would have said yes, of course, but I think I honestly would have been disappointed on some level. It shouldn't be that way, but societal pressures are so darn effective.
