That's that then.
Staro is now down in Kent, on loan and having fun with a t'internets friend of mine and learning how to be a proper riding pony and everything.
Saffy has gone to live with another lady in the village here - I used to have my ponies in the fields next to hers, so she knows Saffy and will use her as a leadrein pony for her grandkids. Provided she doesn't kill her with overfeeding her first. But, Horseworld, the charity who actually own Saffy, were happy for her to go there - she's already got another of their ponies on loan. So, I'm trying to tell myself so be it. And I'm going to have to do my best to learn to trust someone else's judgement. Not easy for a control freak like me. 'Specially when I am rather fond of the little old madam. She even came over to say hello to me, when I went up there to drop off some stuff earlier. She NEVER does that. NEVER. Sigh. leave it, Nic. Just....leave it. I couldn't very well keep her alone, and she's too small to be a reg'lar riding pony for me once I'm well again. So what choice did I have?
So, I'm once more horseless. I've given up the field as well, and this evening packed up the last of my stuff. So if Staro does come back, he's gonig to have to go into livery. I've realised that's going to be the best way for me to keep a horse, realistically - some sort of assisted livery. I'm just too weedy to go it alone.
The positive part is that I really do feel as though I've done the right thing for myself - I've got ANOTHER cold, and I'm still knackered all the time. And after this evening's labours, my sore arm is playing up again. It's been diagnosed as 'tennis elbow' - though I don't play tennis! Basically it's just a nasty repetitive strain injury, for which the only cure is...well..stop using it. So, it's at least got a chance now. Also, now I've not got the ponies to do, I can get the bus to work - driving the car was actually aggravating it, so it'll be interesting to see if stopping that helps too. I've got a physio appointment as well - the doctor has referred me for a course of ultrasound therapy, which is supposed to help.
Just a case of rest, rest and more rest, I guess. And only time will tell. Finger crossed.
