We are now officially married!
We got married on our anniversary, which was March 19th, and the ceremony took place on the beach next to Goat Rock up along the Sonoma Coast. The view was breathtaking, and the weather was nice and sunny. The only drawback was that it was really windy, but it was to be expected since it was on the coast. Needless to say, the wind also made it cold for me, so the majority of the time I had my cloak on for warmth.
Pictures of the ceremony will be forthcoming as we amass them all. We hired a professional photographer, plus half of our guests decided to be faux-photographers as well, so we should have a HUGE gallery of photos by the end of it.
The group of people were small, just as we wanted it - our friend, Jose, was the deputized commissioner and his wife Sirenia (he's the rascal behind actually helping to get us together in the first place, so it was truly perfection to have him perform our ceremony), my friend Melinda of 18 years (egads! Has it really been that long?!) to act as witness, my parents, Matt's mom and grandma. Our siblings were not included, unfortunately, but neither could Matt's sister make it. There will be a huge party in June to celebrate though.
I can't say that the whole planning of the event went smoothly, as there were many who decided that they could manipulate us with what we wanted to do to benefit themselves in some way - thereby ignoring our wishes for a small ceremony (if we had gone as originally planned, no one would have been invited to begin with). But I am told that the execution of everything went beautifully. And now, we are finally married at last.
I must admit it's kinda weird to continually realize that, after 6 years of being "engaged", he is now my "husband". Must watch myself when I refer to him. >_^ Plus, I am in the middle of changing my name over (such a pain), and I need to practice my new signature more often. But other than the new title and possibility for having babies (human babies), the relationship is pretty much the same. For that, I am actually thankful for, as I had heard horror stories about men that have changed entirely after marriage, no matter how long they lived with their girlfriends prior to the date.
Okay, now I feel nauseous. Gotta go.
