We spent years with out eyes shut tight to the world
We loved like our hearts weren’t ours to give away
We lived like we had forever
And now we are lonely like the northern star
Because the jokes that we were never told
Left the punch line punch-drunk and in lust
And all the lessons that we were taught
Left so much to be desired
Like what do you do when your life is crashing down?
Can a prayer really save you then?
And when your friends have lost their faith in you
Who is there that you can run to?
I guess the one thing that we've learned
Through all these lessons and jokes
Is that with faith you can build a bridge
Wide enough to cross the rivers of doubt
So now we keep our eyes wide open
We love because our hearts will never steer us wrong
And we live because today might be our last
Because now we know that we are never alone
