vii. [video post]

[Sometimes, living in an apartment by yourself gets kind of lonely. Really lonely. So while finishing up his homework for the night, he thought there couldn't be much harm in recording a post. It gives him a chance to talk, because being quiet for so long drives him kind of nuts. He's ridiculously smiley, sitting on the floor with the laptop off to one side and his books to another, the couch behind him filling the rest of the screen.]

Today was really, really good! The sun was out all day today and... You know, when things have been so... kind of normal for a long time and nothing really happens and then something happens and that makes things a hundred times better? Yeah, like that, it's exciting!

[He laughs, mostly at himself, but it's a happy sound all the same, dwindling to a pleased hum as he flips a page in a textbook.]

It was Earth Day, like Lady Demeter said, and I thought it wasn't going to be anything. People like to have a lot of random days for things, for some reason. To remember things, I guess.

But after school a bunch of us went to Central Park and, because it was the fortieth anniversary of Earth Day, they were planting a bunch of trees on the Great Hill. We got shovels and... [Wrinkling his nose slightly (and there is just the slightest smudge of dirt on his cheek), he's trying to get the word out with stumbling unnecessarily.] Those trowel things, the little shovels. Apparently, last year they had this really awful storm last summer that damaged a lot of trees, so we did these beautiful saplings today, and some flower bulbs and general litter cleanup.

There were all these people there and just... um, yeah, it was really nice to work with all those people who actually... you know, cared enough to come out and do something. Especially after not really being in the city or with my friends for almost a month...

[There's a pause, a contented sighs worth of time, and though he had been writing simultaneously to speaking and looking up at the camera every now and then, Ganymede puts his pen down now and leans back against the couch, head tilted to rest on his shoulder. No, he hasn't stopped smiling once the entire video.]

I hope everyone had as good a day or... night, whatever you prefer, and if you didn't... um, well, I hope you do tomorrow, because there's no reason a day shouldn't be good! ... unless... people are dying in the elevators again, but um, hopefully that won't happen again... But you all, well, uh, probably deserve a good day, anyway.

[Being succinct and to the point is for losers.]
