Festivids 2013 Letter
Dearest darling festividder,
Requests ahoy! I'm easy.
1) The Americans (2013) [TV]
The Americans is one of my favorite new shows of the year. Spy family, the 80s, espionage and secrets and marriage and themes, oh my. Anything exploring the Jennings fam, Elizabeth and Phillip, or a big old general vid would be great (more people should be watching this thing, it would not go amiss if this became a recruiter vid of sorts). I'm also quite fond of Nina, and a character study for her would be interesting.
Bates Motel [TV]
So many new favorite shows, man. Bates Motel contains one of the best performances ever (no hyperbole) - the things Vera Farmiga's doing on this show are AMAZING. Norma Bates has a face: the vid. Or a vid about Norma and Norman's famous relationship. A Norma or Norman or Norma and Norman character study would be awesome. This program's so atmospheric and fun. Just have at it!
P.S. Did I mention Norma Bates has a face?
Bomb Girls [TV]
I miss this show like crazy. I'm also in a big ladies in WWII phase right now so anything about these girls would be A+++. This has the potential to be a really fun vid about the bonds between these women, or you could go a more dramatic route. Whatever! My favorite characters are Vera, Lorna, and Betty, if you'd prefer to make a narrower, character-based thing.
Defiance (2013) [TV]
Another new favorite! Defiance has such fabulous world building and atmosphere along with a great cast of characters. I love, love, love the women on this show, in particular Stahma, Amanda, and Irisa. Something about each of these women, or all the ladies of Defiance would be keysmashingly wonderful. And I adore the father/daughter relationship between Nolan and Irisa -- this show had me hooked from the moment they sang "Jackson" together. [Ah the only persons I'm much less keen on are the McCauley dudes and Doc Yewll.]
RPF - Lena Headey [Movie, TV]
Enough said. This goddamn dumb dumb. A fun, ridiculous joyful vid about her glorious self. [And a little note: I love that she's super open on Twitter and Instagram and wanna keep it that way. Don't put the kid in this! Not that she would ever see this or care or anything, but just her stupid face, ok, thanks.]
Winter's Bone (2010) [Movie]
My favorite JLaw performance and one of my favorite films of the last few years. This girl should have all the awards for this movie. Would love a vid that takes a close look at Ree Dolly/highlights JLaw's fantabulousnessness.
