I believe having being under the influence of nitrous "laughing gas" was probably one of the best feelings in the world, would have been better if I wasn't having 4 teeth cut out of my head that day ( Read more... )

i had all four of mine cut out when I was 18. They were growing in sideways...with the tops of the teeth pointing toward my lips. The last thing i remember the nurse saying the room as she was poking me with the needle was "you're gonna feel a slight pi--" from that point on i was unconscious... and for the next three days. I slept for over an hour in the dentist's office just trying to come out from under the knock-out shot. i fell asleep on the way to the pharmacy, in the pharmacy, and on the way home. i remember walking up the steps to the house and then falling face-first into the couch. i was on steroids (to speed up healing) and vicodin. i wanted to lift up the side of the house, but i was busy resting my eyes. My stitches popped on the bottom and my swollen face looked like i had grown a purple beard. people actually stopped me to ask if had been beaten up.

In the dentist's office (once i woke up), i asked mom 'how many did they take out?'...she answered '4' and i tried to make the joke: 'no wonder it hurt.' On the ride to the pharmacy, i asked mom 'how many did they take out?'...she answered '4' and i replied, 'no wonder it hurt.' on the way home, i again asked mom 'how many did they take out?'...she answered '4' and i replied, 'no wonder it hurt.' at this point she laughed out loud at me. i remember thinking i was Eddie murphy all of a sudden. in the driveway, i asked her all this again and of course she laughed out loud...in my doped up head i was planning on contacting Comedy Central to get my contract written up. I was banking my entire future on "no wonder it hurt." Look out Chris Rock.

i'm glad to hear you did alright, though. And just think...you will never have to go thru this again!!!!

everyone i know was knocked out! all i got was laughing gas and some numbing shots. i was awake the whole time, you are the lucky. the actual surgery hurt less than the pain i am feeling today, and it is on the other side of my face. mom said if i can handle having my jaw bones sawed on then i can handle child birth, i am starting to doubt i can handle this at all now. but i have a new appreciation for frosties from wendys now.

hhmmm...small little teeth coming out of the holes that were exactly their size to begin with...vs...big fat babies coming out of a hole that is, more often than not, closed shut. no, i'm not seeing the connection...

i'im going to the dentist tomorrow morning for an abscessed root canal....you bring the frosties, i'll bring the spoons.
