I recently went to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to catch the Idols show there on Sunday, September 6th, 2009.
Sorry for being a little slow, but I've recently gone back to school, so my Internet time is very limited.
We got there around 1:00 on Saturday, and we just ended up chilling out, and then later on that night, we went shopping.
We went shopping at this great place where I got a new pair of boots that I call my 'Allison' boots, because they look almost identical to the boots that Allison wore during 'Slow Ride' on American Idol. Those obsessed fans will know which boots I'm referring to.
So then we went back to the hotel, painted our nails black, and went to sleep.
Next day we woke up early, and decided to go downstairs for breakfast; yummy! Then we went for a walk by the arena, and we met this wonderfully friendly head of security named Bob, and another security guard named Bill. Both guys were awesome, and when we asked them if we could have backstage passes, they laughed and asked what we were smoking. We then found out that the tour buses would be arriving at the arena at 1:00, so we decided to go back and get ready.
After a shower, we headed down to the arena; with signs and program in hand, in case some of the Idols came out to sign. Sadly, we didn't stay for the meet and greets in the afternoon, and as we were having dinner, we heard someone saying that Allison, Matt, Scott and Danny went out in the afternoon. I wasn't upset; I have all of their signatures already, so it didn't matter.
We got ready. Went to the show. Saw the show. OUTSTANDING. INCREDIBLE. MARVELOUS. It was the best/hottest/sexiest I've ever seen Adam. Seriously. And Matty G killed it; that's cause it was his hometown, so he was even more pumped up. I felt bad though, cause barely anyone cheered for Allison. I did, though; I screamed 'I LOVE YOU ALLISON' during Barracuda.
So, we ended up leaving right after Adam was over; and actually, we weren't the only ones. It seemed like a lot of people left after he was done. We got out to the barricades, and there were SO many people out there already, but I managed to find a spot where me, my mom, and my gramma could stand and wait. We stood there until about 10:30, when the one and only ... ADAM LAMBERT came walking out. He waved at us, and then went into the tour bus. I for sure thought he wasn't coming back out. I was super sad, but I kind of hid it from my mom and gramma.
That's when, the tour bus door opened up, and out walks Adam. He comes walking towards our way. He starts out near us, so we'll see him nice and early. He gets closer and closer and closer. Then, before I know it, he's at my mom. She gets him to sign the poster again, this time in a silver marker. He's at my gramma. He signs the bag that I tried to get him to sign in Cleveland, and epically failed at. So, he signs that, and then he's at me. I get him to sign the front of my program. He does that. Then he walks away. I didn't even get to stare into his eyes; he was being pulled away too fast. That's when I heard the woman next to me say "I wanna shake his hand" and so sure enough, I get up the courage to ask him myself. He was almost far away, and so I said: "Adam, can I shake your hand?" and he said "Sure"; it was a very happy "Sure". He finished signing someone's program, then he grabbed my hand, put his other hand overtop of it, and lightly shook it. Then he gently released it, and walked away. The whole time, he was looking at me in the eyes. It was beautiful. Mere moments after he walks away, I start to cry. It hits me that I actually touched Adam's hand. For anyone wondering, they are super soft; and he's super sweet and beautiful and gorgeous. All the more to make me love him. This obsession isn't dying out anytime soon.
So, he walks away, and next out is Allison. I made Allison a sign the night before that said ALLISON IS THE GODDESS OF ROCK. So, as she came around, I got her to sign my program, and then proudly showed her my sign. She said "Oh yeah!" and then signed it with a silver marker, in full signature. It looks perfect. I then asked her if I could get a picture with her, and sure enough, she did. The picture turned out shitty though, cause mom forgot to turn the flash on. But, I managed to lighten it up a bit, so it looks really cute. And then Megan, Lil, Kris, Michael, and Scott came out. They all signed my program on the front; and I told Megan I loved her hair (she got it cut; it looks fantastic) And then, the tour bus door opened, and out comes Anoop. He walks over to the gate, signs an autograph, and disappears back into the bus for the rest of the meet and greet. What the hell was the point of that? He disappointed so many fans; they were all chanting for him to come back; he never did. What a jackass, seriously.
Then, just as we were about to leave, Matt and Danny came out. Matt came over to our side to start, while Danny went to the other side. Matt came right up to me, and I showed him my poster that I made for him. It said FORGET GEORGIA; MATTY G'S ON MY MIND. He seemed to like it; maybe a little bit too much, though, because when I said "Matt, this is for you" he thought I meant to take it. He walked away, and said: "You sure you want me to have this?" and I was like "No, no, no. I just need you to sign it" I made a complete fool of myself. He laughed and signed it, and said "Thank you honey" and then walked away. We didn't stay for Danny.
So, that's the last of my American Idols Live Tour concerts. I went to five in total this summer - and all had a different experience. I will say though, that at all the concerts I went to, there was always one of the Idols that seemed off. To me, in this particular case of Grand Rapids, Allison didn't seem as strong for some reason. She almost messed up in Slow Ride, but it was cute because she just shrugged it off and kept singing. Other than that, everyone seemed excellent. Especially Adam; he said WOMAN, and BACK DOOR MAN ... twice. What a god!
