An Ode to Shug
There’s a lovely writer known to most as Shug.
She casts Bewitchments and Charmes through her words,
touching the Heart and Soul of all who read,
leaving the lot Enraptured.
Being a mentor to authors is an admirable deed.
Liquid Courage, she gives, in draughts of reassurance,
and even One Last Request is never One Too Many,
making each A Request Honoured.
The awards site she runs is done with precision.
If someone says Sometimes You Have to Cheat to Win,
she’ll say, “Look Me in the Eyes,” like a Legilimens,
sending them The Long Way Home if dishonest.
Her stories are well written and always well received.
One day they’ll be a Living Legacy, I’m sure,
bringing out the Green-Eyed Monster in others,
but hopefully nothing as petty as The Betrayal.
Also to be respected is her talent with variety.
We’ve gone from Dancing with the Staff to
counting The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas
to reading What Tangled Webs We Writers Weave.
One can only hope she knows how appreciated she is.
Reading her work is like listening to The Song the Summer Sings.
Happy Birthday, SSHG316!
