These are my first two concentration pieces (probably). If you don't know about the AP 2-D Design curriculum, then I will fill you in! It basically works like this: your submitted portfolio has TWO sections, "Breadth" and "Concentration". Breadth is pretty much all the stuff your teacher makes you do that shows your ability to show your knowledge of the Principles and Elements of design and work in different media (graphite, acrylic, ink, etc.). The technical crap. Concentration is just a little bit self-explanatory; you choose a certain topic, idea, object, or whatever and use it to guide you in a series. Each work can be approached differently, but altogether, they should seem unified. I THINK that's how it is.
My concentration is a little hard to explain. I love using symbolism (traffic, flower meanings, icons) to indirectly address reality. Layering is something I like to do in my paintings, and in my sketchbook as well (drawing over something else). And uhmm.. I don't know what else to say. Because it's hard to explain :D!
