{A bit of fic and a very Happy Birthday to Charley. Until you get tangible words, have these words. This is rift-ish, but not binding. Neal is borrowed with love. Just something we joked around about for awhile that I thought I'd give a bit of life to.
Have a song, too. <333}
"You think it will hold?" Neal tips his head to the side curiously.
"One way to find out!" Parker grins and takes a flying jump, then lands on the bed. It bounces her a bit, but holds. She beams at him. "Holds one!"
"Let's see if it holds two." He pauses. "Do you mind?"
She considers it for a moment and shrugs. "Go ahead."
Neal sits on the edge of the bed and gives it a slight bounce as he meets her eyes. He's grinning as well. "I think we did good."
"Alright!" She holds her hand up for a high-five and he meets it. Her head tips back and her eyes gaze up to the sky that surrounds them on the roof of the Kashtta. "It's so awesome up here."
"It is," he agrees. He moves over to kick his feet up and stretch out across the bed. His back leans to the backboard and his hands overlap on his stomach. "This might be one of the better ideas I've been a part of in a very long time."
Parker is still looking up to the sky. "Is Peter going to be mad?"
"Definitely."
"Will you get in trouble?"
"I'll be okay," he replies.
"You sure?"
"Don't worry about it right now. Enjoy yourself."
She's quiet for awhile, but then she stretches out beside him and leans back to the headboard. "This is almost like camping."
"A little bit. We could even sleep out here."
"Really?" She lights up more at that and looks to him.
"Why not? It's not very cold out, it's not raining..."
"Can we roast marshmallows?!"
Neal raises his brow a bit at that. "I'm not sure how we'd do that up here. Unless maybe we got a grill..." A thoughtful look comes over his face while he contemplates that further.
Parker doesn't mind moving right along. "What about campfire songs?"
"Do you know any good ones?" He laughs.
"...no," she admits. "It's just what people do in the movies when they go camping."
"I left my ukelele at home," Neal sighs with a shrug. There's an amused twinkle in his eye and she laughs.
Her head shakes, she's still smiling, and she looks back up to the sky. She thinks about some of the places she's been, and how the stars look different in all of them. Sometimes she wishes she could see them better here, but she knows they're there, and that's enough for her.
"I take it you haven't been camping much before?" Neal tips his head over to her.
"Not really. I mean, I've had to sleep outside before, but...not camping like they do in the movies."
"Nothing is really like the movies."
"True," she agrees.
Neal sits up to kick his shoes off and toss them to the ground. "I'm sleeping here tonight."
Parker watches him, then grins and does the same. "Me too."
They had not only taken Peter's bed apart and put it back together on top of the Kashtta roof, but they had also made it. Neal settles back now against the pillows and starts to pull the blankets out from under them. "I promise to be a perfect gentleman," he says.
"Good." She points at him in warning. "I may or may not have a blunt weapon hidden somewhere on or near my body."
Neal's eyes widens a bit at that and he nods. "Noted. Blunt weapon." He pulls the blankets up and snuggles down a bit.
She does the same, but still keeps her distance. Her arm tucks behind her head. "I like it up here because no one else is up here, and it's so open."
"Like a life size airshaft?" He teases.
"Yes. Like that." She doesn't want to admit again about how much she treasures that confined space she hangs out in. She knows it's weird.
"I like it, too. And I like that I get to share it with you," he says.
She blushes a bit before clearing her throat and changing the subject. "Have you ever jumped off this roof?"
"Not this one," he admits slowly. "But other roofs, yes."
"Really?" She excites a bit and turns to look at him. "What about a bridge?"
"Done that," he nods. He pauses to think and grins at her. "Off of a moving vehicle?"
Parker snorts and waves a hand. "Too many times to count."
Neal laughs lightly at that. "Why do I have the feeling we're only getting started?"
She just grins more, before diving into her next round of Have you ever, giving them plenty to talk about until they both drift off to sleep.
