Even if you don't confide in your dad about everything that happens to you, it sounds like he has a sense of what's going on in your life. Maybe you guys have so much in common that he can guess how you're feeling, even when you don't put it into words? You dad can't read minds (if he could, that would just be weird), but he might know you better than you think. Even if your dad doesn't always know exactly what's going on in your head, it sounds like he wants you to have a happy, successful life. He'd probably like to know you better, so whenever you're ready, give him a chance.
