I feel like today was a full day even if I didn't go to class.
Highlights of the day:
1. Getting lost in Roxas Blvd.
2. Discovering that the Senate is located in this road that looks like it leads to hell, where evil people are. WAIT, I think that just made sense. HAHA JOKE.
3. Got to see Chiz Escudero and all the other senators up close.
4. Dick Gordon was talking about Press Freedom! HAHA:p
5. Migs Zubiri has good PR skills. HAHAHA. But then so do all the other senators I guess.
6. Deither Ocampo FTW.
Sci10 and Hi6 were freecut because of Ash Wednesday Mass. I decided to get the beat immersion thing for Com141 over with so I went to the Senate. I didn't really bother finding out the exact location of the building kasi I was thinking, wth, it's the senate. Taxi drivers are bound to know where it is. NAT.
I just knew that it was in Roxas Boulevard and it was near the GSIS building. Ok na siguro yun diba? Siguro naman alam ng cab. SHET HINDI EH. The cab driver was alll... buhhhhhh... san ba senate dito? So we circled around the area. Pumunta pa kami ng CCP. The guard were all, ma'am hindi dito. Dumiretso lang po kayo tapos senate na yan.
We went straight ahead and found that the road led to a rather dessolate (ish) looking area. "Hindi naman siguro dyan," I said. We circled the area (again) hanggang I was all oh screw this and asked the cab driver to drop me off this random building (turns out it was the other side of CCP).
From there I asked directions from the guards and what did I find out? Yung dessolate area? YUN NA PALA YUN. Potek naman kasi bakit walang malaking sign that says "SENATE IS HERE, BETCH".
Anyway.
I went there via another cab. And this time the driver knew where he was going. FINALLY. So I enter the compound and the guards at the entrance wasted my time pa.
Good morning ma'am, ID po. (Smiles and gives ID)
Ahhh. Ateneo? Alam ko magagaling talaga mga tao galing dun (LIKE DUH. Kidding. Now give me my ID back and let me through. But I'm still smiling at this point.)
Baka naman ho may mga kaibigan kayo diyan ma'am HEHE. Or ikaw ma'am? (potek just give me my ID. Still smiling. Dapat PR eh.)
Cge ma'am sign lang po kayo diyan tapos pasok na kayo (Lets out a fake laugh and smiles. ANAK NG...:|)
So I finally enter the senate! WOOTWOOT... and then I find out my reporter is going to be late (I find out later that she's from Nueva Ecija pa. And she commutes. EVERYDAY). But whatevs diba. I enter the building and from another entrance comes Juan Ponce Enrile.
He's old. And he has a lot of body guards. AND THEY GET TO USE THIER OWN ELEVATOR:| Anyway.
Locating the press office in the senate is much easier than it was at the DOJ. Sa DOJ kasi, medyo freaky. There was this guy smoking outside one of the press rooms pa. And... ewan.
Since my reporter was late I had to wait wait and wait. Luckily, there was free wifi in the area (GSIS wifi I think). But then they're probably using tax money so it isn't really free. WHUT? HAHA) So I almost slip into a boredom-induced nap when my reporter arrives. So we chat blahblah. And then suddenly dozens of these pre-packed food comes into the press office.
Turns out, senators take turns giving lunch to the senate press. (wow. PR lang talaga) BUT my reporter and a friend of hers (strangely, from the same paper) takes me to the executive dining hall (a fancy term for... senate cafeteria) for lunch. And I end up with free lunch courtesy of Lito Lapid. Well, not really him but it was his right hand to footed the bill. So, Lito Lapid na rin. BUT THEN that's tax money so in the end, I think my father ended up paying for my lunch anyway.
So we go back and wait (again) for the 3pm session. Fast forward to 3pm and we go to the session hall to interview the senators. Well, since my reporter went in late na she couldn't squeez in the mobs of reporters interviewing the senators.
PERO SEMI-STARSTUCK MEEE.:D:D:D Most of the male senators were there (strangely, I didn't see any of the female senators. At oo, Krisha. Wala si Jamby dun). AND ETO BENTA: my reporter was trying to squeez her way into this group of people interviewing Enrile (again, he's old. Yun lang) and she bumps into Miguel Zubiri. He says hi na parang "oh, hello, friend" to my reporter and suddenly, he does the same to me.
HAHAHA HULI KA BOY. I think he didn't really know who I was so just to be safe he gave me the same greeting her gave my reporter. HAHAHAHAHA sorry natatawa talaga ako. So my reporter introduces me to him but I don't really care tho. SRY. But then this guy proves to be so much more ma-PR than I thought he already was. My reporter mentions na she has some heart issues (like, totoong heart) and Zubiri goes... OH? Ba't di mo sinabi sa akin. Ipatingin mo yan sa Philippine Heart Center. Contact mo si [name of PA] and blahblah". You have to give it to these guys though, they know their PR.
When sessions starts, everyone goes back to the press office (kasi it's televised anyway) and the most random thing in the world. Deither Ocampo in the house. No, SRSLY.
Apparently, he's there all the time. He attends hearings (especially ones connected to Jamby Madrigal ata?) and well, people take photos will him. Syempre reporter ko nagpapicture din HAHA. I ask my reporter WTH Deither Ocampo is doing in the Senate (syempre not that way) and she goes "Ah kasi dinedeny niya na tatakbo siya pero sa tingin ko tatakbo yan,"
QUE HORROR.
Mmmmmkkkk. So I go back to Katipunan after this coz there's nothing more to do really.
