you go through life learning about love
testing the waters
jumping into what you think is love
the deep colorful oceans of love
& often times finding yourself
crawling out of a pond or a puddle
trying to figure out
how you found yourself there in the first place

but when you really find that love
when youre on the beach
looking out at that beautiful ocean
knowing what lies in the depths of the sea
the beauty & the horrors
thinking about giving your life to that water
to be surrounded by that ocean forever
you can never be sure
if that ocean will give its life to you
if it will let you in
if the tide will pull at your feet
or if rushing waves will push you back to shore

love is hard
because even when you are finally there
even when you finally commit to something
you can never be sure
if that love will be returned
or even appreciated

but that is love
take it or leave it
