There's a mouse posting here that it could be people mistaking Sheridan Smith for Billie Piper, which frankly makes more sense to me if maybe whoever spotted the actress only saw her from the back.

For now, I'm with magicallaw -- pics or it didn't happen.

Oh, that makes a lot of sense considering the rumours about an audio companion actress turning up. Though I've had a go at starting "BILLIE IS THE NEW RANI" rumours on Gallifrey Base, too.

... you know, that would actually be kind of awesome. I've realized I don't mind Billie Piper coming back so much if she plays a NEW FUCKING CHARACTER. I mean, it's not like they didn't have companions come back as other dudes before. Barbara did it. Sara Kingdom did it.

The difference is that Jacquie Hill & Jean Marsh played other characters YEARS after playing their companion roles (I guess, with Jean, you could say she played the companion role after being a supporting character in "The Crusades", if you want to be technical about it.) It gave time for the memories of the character to settle in and fond memories of them to form, given that they had been away for a while. then, the return of the actress is nostalgic. Here, if it's just Billie coming in as another character, it is way too soon.

Unless, like the suggestion has been made, it's her as the Rani. I agree that the emo-ness would be off the scale for the new Doctor, but I could still see this as an agreeable comprimise...

Sheridan was in Cardiff this week as she appeared on the Chris Moyles Breakfast show when they were coming live from Cardiff. It makes quite a lot of sense.

long-standing rumours that an actress under forty years old and known from the audios would be guest-starring in a s5 episode, coupled with fuzzy far-away shot of a blonde woman on set, coupled with the fact that sheridan smith is actually in cardiff this week and is also blonde, under forty, has acted in the audios, and has plenty of film and television credits obviously = BILLIE IS COMING BACK. don't you understand how doctor who works??
