A campaign to save Torchwood’s Ianto Jones has sprung up online. Fans around the world were dismayed when Ianto, a major Torchwood character, met an untimely and unexpected demise in this month’s Children of Earth mini-series on BBC1. The movement to save Ianto Jones began moments after he died, thanks to internet networking communities such as LiveJournal, Twitter and Facebook. And now, the website www.saveiantojones.com has had more than 18,000 hits. There is also a movement to send coffee to Cardiff’s BBC Wales offices, in the same vein as sending pencils for the US screenwriters’ strike. Fans are also being urged to send postcards and letters to Russell T Davies, creator of the series, and to the BBC. They are also using the campaign as a platform to communicate to actor Gareth David-Lloyd in the most public way possible how popular he and his character are. ... SOURCE: WALES ONLINE
