I agree with the sentiment of him being underrated, but it still doesn't sit well with me that she kinda lumps women in there too like there's any sort of competition to be had, especially given the climate of the Oscars as is? I don't hold it against her because I know it's probably just a gut reaction and an instinct to react to his death, but at the same time it's like ...I mean I guess?

I don't understand the feels on this. She's saying he could have done every job and character out there - including the characters designed as females. I don't see a problem with someone acting in a female role, but it's going to be super Monty Python having a pregnant old British dude in a serious spot.

I guess I need to brush up on my handbook for ONTD where I learn how to be offended by literally everything.

That's part of it, the other part is the non-issue of what was said. There have been a lot of shady comments about women and a lot of victim blaming that I am 100% in support of ONTD's hate, but this wasn't shit.
