her full quote because I'm sure people are gonna come for her without reading it in full context:

Adele said: "People think I hate being famous. I don't. I'm really frightened of it. Watching Amy deteriorate is one of the reasons I'm a bit frightened. We were all very entertained by her being a mess.

"I was f****** sad about it but if someone showed me a picture of her looking bad, I'd look at it. That level of attention is frightening."

I think we all were sad yet entertained when it happened lbr, ONTD was created for judging celebs

yeah, if you go back to the original ontd posts about amy it was really brutal. it was a weird time where everyone could obviously see that she had a huge problem but no one even pretended to be concerned and just treater her as a huge joke. i wonder if she was still alive today and still having these problems if there would be more sympathy or not...

The same happened with Amanda Bynes. The girl was obviously having a mental breakdown and yet everyone was so gleeful about her making a fool of herself (and that glee wasn't nearly limited to ontd). There are actually a quite few female celebrities whose breakdowns were treated as entertainment.

In a post about how she poured gasoline on her dog while trying to set fire to someone's driveway a person commented that 'some people will do anything to be famous."

I stayed out of Amanda posts after that.

Yikes! Good decision. That kind of vitriol is hard to bear.

I even remember the posts of when Britney had her breakdown! We as a public have a tendency to be cruel and even now we're waiting for the next "joke"

I hate that kind of attitude. People don't get to that state because it's fun, they're obviously going through a lot of pain. That's nothing to laugh about and it can happen to anyone, no one is immune to depression/mental illness. ONTD hypocrisy always needs to be called out though.

I don't get it either! Honestly Adele has been nothing but sweet so far? She even properly fangirls and praises everyone's faves.

Because people are miserable and jealous.

Because people are doing it on purpose. Look at who the majority of the "backlash" is coming from. Their just stirring shit to get a response. And it's working.

Op always twists words of celebs they dislike. I think it'd actually be backlash if anyone was falling for it, which nobody is

I'm sure its starting tho. General public will love her no matter what but ppl on here always get salty when an artist they dislike gets lots of attention. I'm no Adele fan but anti posts are so weird when the artist hasn't really done anything. I don't mind the facetious troll posts but the serious ones I'm like ok.. If that's how you wanna spend your time.

There isn't backlash against Adele. The messy anti-stans on ONTD are like, 2 in 5 million.

It's not an organic backlash. It's people who have been hotly anticipated hating on her since "Hello" was announced trying desperately to plant the seeds of a backlash. It's fucking pathetic.
