It seems to me that she tends to date a certain type of person, and that she also has her own issues. It never seems like entirely his fault or her fault in her dating situations, just that there's always mutual drama.

they're all ~ladies men~
eric/r&b crooner, david/famous baseball player, gabriel/model & so on
not saying she should date a techie or whatever but they def all have a certain thing about them

i was clearly talking about a personality type, not job/appearance/career

as the other poster said, they all have a ladies man/alpha man/dominant thing about them

maybe she's a fixer? dates guys with issues and wants to fix them. Its clear she also has some issues but i agree that it hasn't been all her the issues in her relationships.

The irony of it being Eric Benet agreeing.

That's definitely plausible

I agree to a point. For David to air their dirty laundry in this manner is such a petty fuckboy move that it doesn't reflect well on himself. So I don't doubt that Halle is attracted to douchebags.

That said, I don't completely dismiss his take either because he's describing the very thing that happened with Gabriel (the only one of her relationship I've followed from start to finish).
After their break-up she kept singing his praises in interviews and publicly co-parenting with him, up until he did something she didn't like (asking to be named on his daughter's birth certificate) and after that she changed her tune on him so fast and so dramatically that it gave me a whiplash.

So yeah, Halle most likely has terrible taste in men, but she seems extra messy and destructive herself. At best, I'm team no-one.

He's being a fuckboy but Haley allowing people to believe for ages he beat her up is nagl either. They both suck.

I think it's really fucked up that she didn't want to put Gabriel on Nahla's birth certificate. What kind of a Kelly Rutherford move

yep. at some point the victim has to break the cycle of abuse and get mental health help. for everyone this isnt possible, but with halle it is. and she has two kids now. she has to do something to change her relationships

She has more issues than Vogue. The certain type of person she dates are all good looking men. You never see her out with a Bill Gates type, do you? She's very superficial, the men have to be attractive, not necessarily smart, nice, considerate, etc. None of her relationships have ever lasted more than 4 years, usually not even that long. I can't really blame Justice for wanting to set the record straight at this point. She threw shade at him and if he wasn't really responsible, he has a right to clear it up. And is he lying about how she's trashed the other men she's been with after the relationships go south? I don't think so. She has a very skewed view of life.

Apparently Halle grew up in a household where there was domestic violence. Often when kids grow up with this as their "normal" it's what they recreate in their adult lives.
It's also possible that the cycle is perpetuated because the kid who grew up in the violence had no power and couldn't fix it. They now become the adult in the situation so they're constantly putting themselves in familiar scenarios to try and a) take the power back and b) right the wrongs of their childhood. Sadly it never works out well until the adult goes and gets help to heal their past so they can take control of their future.
