ONTD Original: Best Teen Movies Available for Streaming on Netflix

Apr 21, 2015 23:38

I've been watching a lot of movies from the 80s and 90s lately on Netflix, and a lot of these movies have been teen movies. I thought I'd share a list of the best ones I've found for when you're feeling nostalgic.

Here are my picks in no particular order:

Heathers

Winona Ryder and Christian Slater star in this film about a pair of angsty teenagers who take their revenge on the popular, superficial kids too far. It starts out as a comedy with a Mean Girls-esque plot but quickly turns psycho.

The Virgin Suicides

BB Kirsten Dunst and some irrelevant people star in this movie about a group of teenage girls who feel suffocated and repressed by their overprotective parents.

She's All That

Remind yourself what hot Freddie Prinze Jr. looked like with this one! His character makes a bet with his friends to see if he can turn a geeky girl into a prom queen.

Election

Reese serves one of her best performances as Tracy Flick in Election. She plays a morally corrupt, overly ambitious high school junior who will stop at nothing to win her school's election for student body president.

American Beauty

Technically the protagonist of this movie is a grown man (played by Kevin Spacey) who's going through a midlife crisis, but it deals with his obsession with his daughter's best friend, and it also explores his daughter's life as a teen girl. This movie was nominated for eight Oscars and it won five.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

High school senior Ferris Bueller skips school and takes his girlfriend along with him to Chicago.

Mean Girls

Obviously!

Clueless

Based on Jane Austen's novel Emma, this movie is about what happens when popular girl Cher decides to try and hook up her new friend with a guy and misinterprets everything.

Scream

Classic teen/horror movie everyone has to see at least once. A serial killer running around with a creepy mask terrorizes a town by murdering a whole bunch of residents.

Saved!

A Christian girl tries to save her boyfriend's soul after he tells her he's gay by losing her virginity to him to help him to turn straight. But then she gets pregnant. Oop.
