i remember this. this was ridiculous. i don't even like him, but kelly blew this completely out of proportion. he was joking, but shouldn't have put his hand over her mouth. she acted like he had physically assaulted her. kelly has always been overly dramatic. wasn't this also when she first got the cohost job from kathie lee, and people didn't like her? always thought she was trying to drum up sympathy.

What Clay did was rude and shitty but I think it's really telling that like this is the thing everyone (who isn't a straight up homophobe) hates him for when the whole was scandal blown up because of and rooted deeply in homophobia because everyone was like "ew he's a gay."
