i know this is a gossip community, but the coverage of this whole thing is really ridiculous. I love Russell Brand's commentary on most things. Super smart dude, it seems.
i always thought he was an idiot until those riots in London a few years ago. he wrote a blog on it, and it was just really smart, very well done and i started looking at his other stuff and was like, jfc this guy is a genius.
his standup regarding religious stuff is just amazing, if you haven't seen it; i think it was his most recent one.
His commentary is spot on in a lot of ways, and I think juxtaposed with the smarmy, smug celebrity news coverage he does seem to be right in slamming the way it's been covered.
With that said, people who are just looking at the photo for the first time without all of that haze of smarminess are still genuinely shocked because she does *look* different. Unnervingly different. And it's not because of age.
And I think he's almost disingenuously glossing over that plain fact.
That's true -- and I did like the part where he basically said, "Gosh, maybe it's shit like this that made her take a break from acting. Maybe it's stuff like this that makes women fuck with their faces."
that was one of my favorite comments to come out of it. like who gives a shit, you're making a way bigger deal out of this than it needs to be and that is indicative of the overall issue which LED to her making such big changes
