Loved him in red riding tbh, too bad he was barely in prometheus, barely recognized him or rafe spall for that matter before they... y'know.

they did them both so dirty in Prometheus

and Spall's character pissed me off with his stupidity. I was almost yelling at the screen in a crowded theater I was so pissed lol

Ugh I'd blissfully forgotten just how dumb with the whole ~it's so beautiful i want to touch this clearly unknown creature~ WTF that's not how science works motherfucker. If Sean's in MI5, even as a villain, he'll probably get overshadowed by pegg/ renner / patton etc. When has a MI villain ever been relevant/memorable?

like, he was afraid of everything and space but let's touch this ugly worm thing that came out of an oil filled egg? On an unknown planet? On a giant alien like spaceship thing?

Oh okay

Idk, Phillip Seymore Hoffman was great but that was probably more because it was PSH than anything else lol

TO BE FAIR, there are deleted scenes that make it a lot more clear/reasonable as to why he'd think it was safe to mess around with the...vagina snake thing. I've heard Rafe Spall try to explain this more than once because apparently people are always giving him shit for his character being a dumbass, heh. I mean, that was the main problem with that film; it was like five different people's scripts mashed into one and they took random bits out and it ended up not making sense. But, ya know, they tried at one point.

[/somehow a stan of that movie]

lol I mean, knowing the bts drama and bringing in the worst possible writers to tighten up the script, in hindsight we should have seen it coming.

Poor Rafe Spall do people really? :( it's not his fault they turned his character into a dumbass. Do you remember the explanation?

There's a making-of doc called The Furious Gods -- it's like four fucking hours long or something, but it's really really interesting and also kind of tragic because, like, you can see exactly where it went wrong, but no one's really aware of it yet as they're talking about it. Like one second you have Jon Spaihts explaining his frustration at the studio bringing in a ~big name~ (Lindelof) to work on the script for no reason, and then a minute later you have Lindelof saying "I'm not great at writing alone, but fortunately I had Ridley there!" and you're like "...wat." So it's kinda painfully ironic to watch later on. (And Sean is in literally like a minute of it bc he's so shy and as a stan I was like GODDAMMIT MAN)

I know I've seen a video of Rafe talking about it somewhere, but for now all I can find is: https://uk.movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-editors/rafe-spall-explains-controversial-
