Julian Casablancas crashes Arcade Fire show wearing Win Butler bobblehead mask

The first rule of rock & roll: Never mess with another man's bobblehead mask. Last night, during their performance at Lollapolooza Argentina, Arcade Fire strode onstage wearing their usual papier-mâché get-ups, but an imposter - Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas - was hiding underneath the visage of Win Butler. "What the fuck is this?" Butler cried, pulling off the costume to reveal Casablancas in his signature leather jacket. "Not cool."

Of course, the goofy bit was all in good fun, as the band sets aside their fake anger and kicks off the show with the hard-hitting Reflektor track "Normal Person." Watch the whole clip above, with the unmasking incident around the 1:30 mark.



Last week, Arcade Fire's masks were in the news for a different reason, as multi-instrumentalist Richard Reed Parry saw his bobblehead go missing after a show in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The band released a statement about the theft: "This mask is a one of a kind piece that is an essential component to our live show," they wrote. "We have photos of the theft but rather than press charges we would prefer if the person who took it would get in touch with us to return it. Perhaps this is all an innocent mistake and you meant to leave the venue with your own oversized paper mache rendition of Richard Parry's head? Meanwhile, bobblehead imposter Julian Casablancas revealed this week that he's aiming to play new shows and record with the Strokes; he also referenced an unfinished collaboration with Daft Punk, which would follow his cameo on their Random Access Memories track "Instant Crush."
