SXSW: Cronut creator debuts Chocolate Chip Cookie Milk Shots; Robert Downey Jr. designs posters
Cronut inventor Dominique Ansel is enticing sweet tooths once again with a new invention. The New York pastry chef has created something called the chocolate chip cookie milk shot.
It's a wonder no one thought of this before. A shot glass made of a chocolate chip cookie, filled with milk. L.A. bakers, you listening?
Ansel posted a picture of the cookie shots on Instagram on Wednesday, announcing he will serve the shots at SXSW, the annual music, film and interactive conference in Austin, Texas, Sunday. The picture already has more than 2,000 likes.
Grubstreet is reporting the cookie dough is extra-aerated and baked in a cylindrical mold. It's served room temperature with ice-cold milk.
Ansel also plans to serve his famous cronuts at the Allison+Partners Cronut at Midnight event, along with the cookie shots.
Now, if only someone could do this with Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies and Baileys.
Robert Downey Jr. designs Jon Favreau's SXSW 'Chef' posters
Actor/writer/director Jon Favreau's food-truck film Chef will premiere tomorrow night at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, so to prepare for the media blitz, Favreau and Chef co-star/frequent collaborator/Iron Man Robert Downey Jr. designed a few "unofficial" posters specifically for the festival.
In this video, Favreau and Downey Jr. break down some of the design elements: a poster depicting the food truck on a giant fork reveals a major plot device ("there's a truck on a giant fork in the movie"), while one of Downey's posters, according to the artiste, is titled "breaking through spiritual materialism."
During the festival, Favreau will pepper Austin with signed Chef posters, revealing their locations on his Twitter account. In the video announcement, Favreau promises: "We'll have lots of fun stuff happening for you in Austin."
