Creepy Post: Trailer For Sundance Buzzed Horror Film 'The Babadook'

There have been many films from this year’s Sundance Film Festival that have been buzzed about, many of which were anticipated beforehand. What’s most exciting about this time of year is when a film comes out of nowhere (or in this case, from Down Under) and takes everyone by surprise. That is the case with the Australian horror film “The Babadook” which premiered at Sundance, and immediately made a rumbling around Park City, catching the ears of our team on the ground. And hopefully this trailer for the movie will get you excited too.

Starring Essie Davis (Baz Luhrmann’s “Australia”) and first-time actor Noah Wiseman, who was six years old when the film started shooting, “The Babadook” is about a mother and son who become haunted by a mysterious creature from a children’s book. The chilling trailers serves up a nice twist on the monster-in-the-closet trope, in what looks like a pretty terrific scare flick.

This film marks the directorial debut for Jennifer Kent who received funding from Kickstarter to make the film. Currently, “The Babadook” does not have a U.S. release date but that should hopefully change soon thanks to the amount of positive notices the film has received (Entertainment One has the worldwide distribution rights on the movie). Be sure to check out the trailer below.
