My username is a character from "The Golden Bowl", a book that seriously blew me the fuck away. Henry James has one of the most amazing styles/minds/everything that I've ever encountered.

James was homosexual, I believe, and I for one think that homos often have a lot of sympathy for their compatriots in being fucked over by society. "The Portrait of a Lady" is also very feminist, but at the same time brilliantly tough minded and true to its characters. Perhaps my favorite novel of all time.

I couldn't get through "House of Mirth"--it was all so sad but at the same time frustrating. I was a bit down when I started reading it and couldn't deal with how f-ed over Edith was going to be...
