Alec Baldwin Blames "Fundamentalist Wing of Gay Advocacy" For MSNBC Firing
Alec Baldwin is now out of a job -- and the actor and former MSNBC talk show host is doing some finger pointing. As reported on Tuesday, just six weeks after its debut, Up Late With Alec Baldwin has been permanently yanked from the airwaves after Baldwin, 55, apparently spewed homophobic slurs at a photographer a "c--sucking f**" during a recent altercation.
Speaking with the Gothamist about his ouster, Baldwin complained: "You've got the fundamentalist wing of gay advocacy - Rich Ferraro and Andrew Sullivan - they're out there, they've got you." Ferraro is spokesman for the country's most well-known LGBT advocacy group GLAAD, while Sullivan is a popular gay political blogger, author and editor who has been published in The New Republic, Time magazine, The Daily Beast and the Atlantic.
"Rich Ferraro, this is probably one of his greatest triumphs," Baldwin continued. "They killed my show." He did acknowledge, however: "I have to take some responsibility for that myself."
Calling Gothamist from Hawaii, Baldwin contended his use of offensive language. "'F-----' is not the word that came out of my mouth."
