Catherine Tate has stated she would be ‘happy’ to return to Doctor Who at some point in the future.

Tate played Donna Noble originally in the 2006 Christmas Special The Runaway Bride (with a brief appearance at the end of Doomsday which led into the special) before returning as a full time companion the fourth series in 2008.

Tate was asked by the TV Times whether she would return to the sci-fi series to which she replied “Yes, I would be more than happy to go back”

When it was announced that Tate would rejoin Doctor Who as a full time companion there was a backlash from some fans but the nay-sayers were proved wrong. The character’s re-introduction in Partners In Crime was a hit with fans and Donna Noble quickly became a fan favourite.

Tate reprised her role of Donna Noble for David Tennant’s two-part final story The End of Time in 2009. Since leaving Doctor Who the actress has appeared in Little Crackers, This Is Jinsy and American comedy The Office in which she played Nellie Bertram in 34 episodes.

The actress is currently starring alongside David Walliams in BBC One’s new Friday evening comedy Big School.
