McFly sing One Direction's praises: "They look after their women"

Despite both battling for the charts and armies of fans, boybands these days seem to be the best of mates, with very little rivalry between them.

Take McFly, for example, who have nothing but nice words and praise to bestow upon their fellow popstars One Direction.

Of course, the boys have been around a lot longer than the five-piece, seven years longer to be precise, so have been established for a while.

And let's no forget that they write their own music and play their own instruments too!

But lead guitarist Danny Jones has said he thinks the One Direction lads - Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik - are "lovely" and know how to treat the girls in their life.

Speaking to Digital Spy at the "Rock Your Jeans" party for the Jeans or Genes charity last night, he said: "They're pretty switched on.

"They look after their money, they look after their women. They're lovely guys, they're down to earth. It's amazing how they've gripped the nation."

The 27-year-old also revealed that One Direction are recording a song McFly wrote for their new album.

He added: "They've had such good songs and we're privileged to be a part of that. For us it's not about making money and being there for a moment, for us it's about the musical satisfaction and we can give that to One Direction."

It's not the first time McFly have put pen to paper for the X Factor contestants - Tom Fletcher wrote I Want for One Direction's debut album Up All Night and Fletcher, Jones and Dougie Poynter penned I Would for their 2012 album Take Me Home.

McFly formed in 2003 and to mark their tenth anniversary they will be playing four shows at London's Royal Albert Hall between September 19 and 22.

Here's to the next ten, fellas!
