You don't need a pass to get to show. Just a wristband, which will cost around $125-$175 this year.

Nope, wristbands are only sold in person at select locations in Austin.

... which makes Austinites like me soooo happy :)

There was a site called sxswwristbands.com or something like that (it's an authorized, official site for real sxsw wristbands) but they only have a limited number, and they've already sold out.

At the risk of having other people jump on this offer, I can try to get one for you. _coverage@graffiti.net if you're interested, we can talk.

They were on sale online via that one site for out-of-state attendees, but they aren't on sale in person yet. Don't worry :)

No you can only buy them locally. There is one hotel that offers the option to buy a wristband with hotel, but I can't remember the website for that.

Last year I found a random person on a Austin LJ community and had them buy wristbands for my friend and I. We sent them the money western union.

It's worth it though.

I would try to stay away from flooding an LJ community with request posts... it gets pretty annoying, especially when we can only buy so many per person, and some of us rely on those sites for pertinent University/city info.

That's really cool, though, that the person did that for you. I'm willing to do it for some people, I guess it depends on how many I can buy in person.

I hate to see the prices skyrocket because of scalping, so I'm going to try to snap up as many as possible for my (out-of-town) friends and sell them at face value.

There will be an official press release. You can get it by signing up for the official xsw mailing list at the official site.

OR

You can watch sites like waterloorecords.com religiouly (Waterloo is one of the record stores where wristbands will be sold).

I'm going to be in line with people who aren't going to sxsw- I give them money, they give me tickets.

also keep in mind that if it is a really popular show you most likely won't get in with a wrist band. they let in gold badges first, then music badges, then music wrist bands. if they are at capacity before they get to you you're out of luck.
