I loved the Song of the Lioness series as a kid. Why aren't those movies yet?

Hollywood doesn't want to spend a lot of money on films with a female lead so the expense of making a medieval epic of that scale won't happen for a book series like that unless Allana becomes a douche like Bella and they can shoehorn Brad Pitt or someone into the male lead role.. I'm hoping that HBO or Showtime might get it in their heads to make the books a miniseries or series instead because they'd respect the text and have shown that they're not afraid of female-lead material.

I actually commented on Tammy's LJ a year or so ago and asked her if a movie would ever come out and she said that she's rejected all offers so far because none of them would do the books justice or offer her sufficient control over her own material. She said she didn't want a movie released unless she could have a say in what they did to the plot/characters because she wants a faithful adaptation, nothing half-assed.

I wouldn't call it a young adult novel, though, once i think about it...but yeah, it's a great story
