But some malware are hidden and slow down computers, and I'm too lazy to deal with the scanning when I just want to play.

I can appreciate this. It's one of the things that makes apple so good. I almost wish that Microsoft did hardware, since its pretty easy to protect your hardware if you don't have a million and one companies to write the drivers for hoho. I've never had a problem with viruses or malware on my computer so I guess I can't relate to that

Macs don't necessarily have better hardware. I think it's more the software that reduces wear and tear or something
Even the lowest end macbook will have better hardware than a $499 dell inspiron. Guaranteed. You essentially, get what you pay for. Their software, in terms of syncing flawlessly with their hardware is mainly because like I said, Apple MAKES the hardware. Microsoft has to write an operating system that will work and work well on 50-11 different manufacturers all using different processors, different hdds, different everything. *shrugs* hence the security issues. You sacrifice choice for ease of use, and I can respect that. A lot of people choose to. Just not for me, I like customization too much, haha.

Some people mentioned Window 7 to be similar to Snow Leopard?
I have never used snow leopard, so I can't really comment on this, but I think people mean in terms of looks? because the two os-es are written completely different, lol. I like windows 7 because its lighter, I can use it on my older computer and my newer computer and have it run even faster (and it was fast before), I love the new look of it (the previews! :o i love being able to do that), and I appreciate a less annoying UAC.

I don't think Apple makes the hardware as much as it forces hardware companies to conform to its standards instead of being whoring it out. :P

The attraction for PC is the price range, which would never be beaten had MS insisted on manufacturing their own hardware in the first place. So security for price for those who likes to tinkle around.

I like that the MacBook does not lag, and that I don't need to upgrade RAM or anything extra just to prolong its laggibility. My brother's PC is beginning to slow down from lack of care, and he got it only last year so phew

ah, lol. yes. that's what I meant, in terms of making its own hardware. It's known as a hardware company xD it still takes components from intel, etc etc, but the gist is that they're the SAME components over and over again. So its easy to say "hay, exclude everything but these" rather than in windows where its more of the opposite, since you've got sony, dell, hp, acer, asus, and a whole host of other companies using wide variation of hardware, and needing to include all of them, and accomodate the various amount of drivers needed *shrugs* its harder to do an exclusion type of security in that case.

I think it really depends on the type of computer you get. People are pretty amazed at the macbook's trackpad and things like that but lol my vaio has fingerscroll too and the pad is uber sensitive. I love it xD I mean...its kind of weird to say won't need to upgrade the ram because its the same ram for every computer, osx doesn't install eternaRAM xD So the 4 gigs you have on your mac will be the same 4 gigs on mine, ours will both be old without upgrades in a couple of years. (I mean, try running an ibook nowadays you'll want to shoot yourself in the head from the speed, lol). If your brother bought a machine with one gig of ram *shrugs* I mean it's going to be safe to say ram will go up every year. (and they're pretty easily removable on most PC laptops too! along with most other components, lol)

I think its just a bit inaccurate to make blanket statements on the life and the reliability of pcs when there are so much MORE of them. Heck, my 5 year old vaio (desktop) doesn't even lag, and it's never seen a virus a day in its life. I've had this new vaio (laptop) for over a year and its still running smoothly, no lag, and I fully expect it to run for years to come. It had the highest ram available on a laptop back then, and it still has it now, so even if ram goes up (which it will) in the next year or so, I should be good for at LEAST 4-5 years. However, my work issued ibook when I recieved it, died a year later from logic board failure. By that same logic I can say "man macs suck!" but I know that hell, apple more models than the ibook, so I'm not going to judge the entire brand (JUST 10.4 THAT PROGRAM CAN GO TO HELL) on that one shitty comp. Like I said, It just comes down to what type of person you are: a person who likes having many options in terms of a choice, and people who just want to get a damn machine already and have it running when they want to type their documents xD

that, and people are always comparing their shit 399 computers to computers like the macbookpro and it irks the heck out of me, lol.

tl;dr but people have different needs of what they want out of a computer, and different quirks as to what they like in a computer, so OS wars are silly :p (although I always get drawn into them xD; I guess i'm a bit guilty of being defensive as well!)
