Write a decent female character?

I should clarify, I love the show and have been fond of a few female characters, but there's only been about 4 women in the whole show who weren't hot for either Sam or Dean, and one of them is their mother. :/

Just one cool female character would be awesome this season, but I'm not holding my breathe for that.

I think they honestly can't conceive of a world where 9 out of 10 females on the planet wouldn't fall instantly in love with a Winchester upon meeting them. I'm fairly sure the think even lesbians aren't safe from the Winchester charm.

Characters like Ava and Original Ruby are so refreshing for that reason, because they didn't just fall over in love, they had their own causes and their own plans, they used the boy's help when it made sense to and didn't hang around like love-sick idiots when it wasn't useful to, Ava got on with her life and her engagement. So they killed Ava and then turned Ruby into the opposite of everything she'd been before. Fuck them. *pouts*
